Davina McCall undergoing brain surgery today following tumour diagnosis as she asks fans to ‘pray’

Davina McCall is undergoing brain surgery today (15 November) following a tumour diagnosis and she has asked fans to ‘pray’.

A video message was shared to Instagram as her partner Michael Douglas warned she would be going ‘off grid’ for a short while. She explained the tumour found is ‘very rare’, making her one of ‘three in a million’.

The TV star said her diagnosis came following a free health scan which she thought she was ‘going to ace’.

“But it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst, which is very rare, three in a million,” McCall explained.

“And so I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons. I got lots of opinions, and I realised that I have to get it taken out. It’s big for the space, it fills the space.”

The 57-year-old said the tumour measures 14mm wide so it very much needs to be taken out as ‘if it grows, it would be bad’.

Sharing the pre-recorded video message this morning, McCall explained she is having the tumour ‘removed via a craniotomy’.

During the brain surgery, the Masked Singer judge said they would go through the top of her head and through the two halves to get to the middle of her brain.

“Get the cyst. Take it out. Empty it. Take it out. Bob’s your uncle,” she explained. “So say a prayer for me. I am in good spirits.”

Douglas joined the video to say he’ll ‘have his eye on her’ as he joked he offered to do the surgery ‘to make sure it’s done properly’.

McCall assured that she’s feeling ‘OK’ as it’s ‘been up and down’.

“Obviously, we’ve been through a lot,” she added.

The former Big Brother presenter said she’s going to be in hospital ‘for about nine days’ before she gets home but will be off her phone ‘for a while’.

“I don’t want you to worry about me. I’m doing that enough,” she told her followers. “But I’m not worrying too much, and I am in a good space, and I have all the faith in the world in my surgeon and his team, and I’m handing the reins over to him.

“He knows what he’s doing.”

Signing off pre-surgery, McCall said: “I’ll see you on the other side.”
